Dr. Medina Saffie is a Canadian Board-Certified Consultant in Infectious Diseases with additional American Board Certification in Infection Control & Prevention, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex infections in adults and children. With extensive clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, she provides expert care for immunocompromised patients, multidrug-resistant infections, and rare infections.
She completed her Doctor of Medicine at Queen’s University and holds dual Fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She has served in key leadership roles, including Medical Director of Infection Prevention & Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship, and has contributed to hospital infection-control strategy.
Her clinical and research interests include complex infections, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and emerging infectious diseases. As Principal Investigator of the IMPACT Meningococcal Study, she has contributed to infectious disease surveillance and research in Canada, with publications in complex infectious conditions.
