Consultant Critical Care
Dr. Jan Brujevic is a highly experienced Consultant Intensivist with over 12 years of expertise in critical care medicine, perioperative care, advanced diagnostics, and complex therapeutic interventions. He holds DOH, DHA, and MoH licensure in the UAE as a Consultant in Critical Care and is a UAE Golden Visa holder. Since 2023, he has worked in Abu Dhabi across two tertiary university hospitals Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Medical City (STMC) in Al Ain and Tawam Hospital covering multispecialty, trauma, neurological, obstetric, hematology, and oncology ICUs.
Previously, he served for 2.5 years as a Consultant Intensivist at Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah and spent more than a decade at University Hospital Hradec Králové, Charles University (Czech Republic), including over six years at consultant level in a highly specialized tertiary ICU. His clinical expertise includes bedside ultrasound and transthoracic echocardiography, difficult airway management, bronchoscopy, and ultrasound‑guided procedures. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Brujevic has contributed as a local investigator in international clinical studies and as a mentor to resident doctors and medical students. Consultant Critical Care
Dr. Usaama Sheikh is a Critical Care Consultant at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi. With 14 years of experience, he is dual‑certified in Intensive Care Medicine and Anesthesia. He has advanced training in medical and surgical critical care, major trauma, and burns, and specializes in the management of patients following major cancer and transplant surgeries.
Dr. Sheikh’s professional affiliations include Fellowships in the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and the Royal College of Anaesthetists, as well as Memberships in the Intensive Care Society and the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. He is licensed on the specialist register for Intensive Care Medicine and Anesthesia with the UK General Medical Council, reflecting his recognized expertise in critical care.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) with Honors from the University of Leeds, UK, and later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Distinction from the University of Manchester, UK.
Consultant Intensivist
Dr. Ronald Jan Trof is a Consultant Intensivist with extensive experience in the hospital and healthcare sector. He is highly skilled in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Clinical Research, Medical Education, and healthcare organization. He holds a PhD from VU University, Amsterdam, with a specialized focus on fluid therapy and hemodynamic monitoring. His work reflects a strong commitment to advancing critical care practices through both clinical expertise and academic research.
Dr. Trof is serving as Head of the ICU Department at Burjeel Medical City since August 2025. During his tenure, he played a key leadership role in strengthening critical care services within a high-acuity hospital environment. He continues to contribute to the field through his expertise in intensive care management and healthcare development.
Consultant Critical Care
Dr. Parshawn Lahiji, B.Sc., D.O., is a Consultant Intensivist in the Department of Critical Care at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. He holds board certifications in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, and Internal Medicine. Dr. Lahiji earned his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University Nevada and completed a combined Emergency and Internal Medicine Residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He further advanced his training through a Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University. His clinical and academic work includes leadership in critical care education, mentorship, and participation in clinical committees. Dr. Lahiji contributed to research focused on sepsis management and ICU protocols to improve patient outcomes.
He also played a key role in establishing an ECMO programme in Santa Monica, USA, supporting a significant proportion of the nation’s ECMO patients. Known for his clinical expertise and leadership, he is committed to advancing multidisciplinary critical care and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Omar Bani‑Saad is a Consultant in Critical Care and Acute Internal Medicine at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. He holds dual CCT accreditation in Critical Care Medicine and Acute Internal Medicine. His scope of practice includes general medical and surgical critical care, neurocritical care, cardiothoracic critical care, and acute internal medicine.
