Yes. Its Day Surgery Unit allows eligible patients to undergo a procedure, recover, and return home on the same day. The unit includes an operating room, recovery facilities, endoscopy suites, and supporting diagnostic services.
Patients can book appointments through the Mediclinic App or by contacting the centre at 800 1999. Mediclinic Dubai Mall also welcomes walk-in patients, although appointments are recommended.
Mediclinic Dubai Mall is located on Level 7 of Fashion Parking in The Dubai Mall. The centre is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Consultant ENT Surgeon
Dr. Joe Marais FRCS (ORL) is a Consultant Rhinologist, Nasal Plastic and ENT Surgeon with over two decades of experience in the UK. He is currently working as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Mediclinic Dubai Mall. He held NHS consultant roles at Northwick Park Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital, and Central Middlesex Hospital before relocating to Dubai in 2025. He completed his medical training in South Africa and further specialist training in London and Edinburgh, including at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital.
He obtained his Intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in 1996 and completed subspecialist fellowships in Texas and Toronto. His clinical expertise includes nasal and sinus disorders, functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty, snoring, allergy, and paediatric ENT conditions. Dr. Marais was experienced in managing complex tertiary referral cases, including septal surgery, sinusitis, and nasal polyps.
He is a member of ENT-UK and the European Rhinology Society, and an allied associate member of BAPRAS. In addition to his clinical work, he has taught postgraduate trainees at the Royal College of Surgeons and presented at international conferences. He has also published extensively and served as an expert witness in medico-legal practice.
Specialist Pulmonologist
Dr. Olga Vartzioti is a European Board-certified physician in Adult Respiratory Medicine and holds the ERS HERMES Diploma, recognizing her among highly qualified respiratory specialists. With over 20 years of experience, she has contributed to pulmonary research, co-investigating clinical trials in asthma and COPD, and has numerous publications. She completed her residency in Respiratory Medicine in Athens, Greece, earning her National Certification (CCT) in 2008, and subsequently served in various clinical roles, including managing the H1N1 outbreak and working as a Clinical Fellow in the Respiratory-Allergy Unit at Atticon University Hospital.
Dr. Vartzioti has extensive experience as a Consultant Pulmonologist, including at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah and currently at Mediclinic Dubai Mall / Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Dubai. Her clinical expertise spans obstructive lung diseases, interstitial lung disease, chronic cough, breathlessness, sleep-related breathing disorders, and respiratory infections. She has a special interest in sports pulmonology, evaluating exercise-related breathing issues and optimizing lung function in athletes. Dr. Vartzioti also emphasizes preventive medicine, lifestyle interventions, and the connection between a healthy mind and body to promote long-term respiratory wellbeing. Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Sonja is a highly experienced Plastic and Hand Surgeon with a career spanning over three decades, specializing in aesthetic surgery, skin cancer and hand surgery.
Sonja’s cosmetic surgery practice is focused on surgical procedures aiming for rejuvenation of face, breast and body, rather than non-operative, aesthetic beautifications. Her dual training in upper limb surgery enables her to competently manage hand and wrist conditions, injuries as well as chronic problems. She is skilled in general aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery, from complex soft tissue reconstruction to cosmetic scar revisions and skin lumps / bumps removals.
Dr. Sonja’s Consultant career began in 2008 at St George’s Hospital in London, a major Level I trauma and teaching centre, where she served as Head of the Plastic Surgery Department from 2019 to 2022. She has been practicing at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai since 2024.
After graduating from Belgrade University Medical School in Serbia and moving to the UK, Sonja became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. She completed plastic surgery training in South London, aesthetic fellowship at the McIndoe Surgical Centre, orthopaedic wrist fellowship at Wrightington Hospital, and hand fellowship at Windsor Hand Clinic by 2008. She was awarded a degree of Master in Surgical Science from the University of London for postgraduate research in flexor tendon surgery.

Dr. Marcela is a specialist in Allergy and Immunology with nearly 15 years of clinical experience in managing allergic conditions in both children and adults. She obtained her medical degree from Fundação Técnico Educacional Souza Marques in Brazil and completed a visiting student placement at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She undertook her pediatric residency at Hospital Federal de Bonsucesso in Brazil and holds a specialist certification from ASBAI, the Brazilian Association of Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Marcela has published several allergy-related case reports presented at scientific meetings in Brazil and Europe and has extensive experience working in specialized allergy clinics in Brazil. She has been practicing in the UAE for the past year. Dr Ahmed Al-Sharefi is a UK-trained Consultant Endocrinologist, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, who completed his CCT in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and General Internal Medicine in the North East of England. He has over 15 years of clinical experience across the UK and UAE and is a SCOPE-certified bariatrician from the World Obesity Federation. His clinical interests include obesity and weight management, advanced diabetes care using insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring, and closed-loop (artificial pancreas) systems, as well as andrology and reproductive endocrinology.
