Dr. Awat Kamal Aziz is a Consultant Anesthesiologist at American Hospital Dubai with over 16 years of experience in anesthesia and critical care. He completed specialist training in anesthesia and intensive care medicine in the UK and was awarded a CCT in Anesthetics in 2015. Following this, he served as a Consultant Anesthesiologist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Oxford, UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and holds the European Diploma in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care and the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine. Dr. Aziz has extensive expertise in preoperative assessment, optimization, and perioperative management of high-risk emergency and elective surgical patients. His experience includes major cancer surgery and complex robot-assisted procedures across multiple surgical specialties. He provides anesthesia for complex urology, ENT, maxillofacial, plastic and reconstructive, colorectal, gynecologic oncology, orthopedic, neurosurgical, spinal, endocrine, transplant, ophthalmic, and breast surgeries. He is highly experienced in managing major trauma, poly-trauma cases, and critically ill patients requiring urgent surgical intervention. His clinical interests include advanced airway management, jet and one-lung ventilation, THRIVE oxygenation, TIVA, and depth of anesthesia monitoring using processed EEG. He also specializes in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, nerve blocks, vascular access, interventional radiology anesthesia, and sedation for complex surgical cases.
