Dr. Assem Shayah

Dr. Assem is a highly experienced ENT Consultant with over 20 years of expertise in managing a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions. He served as a Consultant in Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery at York Teaching Hospital, England, from February 2018 to August 2024. He is fully accredited by the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Surgeons. His clinical practice includes advanced management of chronic rhinosinusitis, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, nasal polypectomy, adenotonsillectomy, and snoring disorders.

Dr. Assem has a special interest in laryngology, particularly phonosurgery and trans-oral CO₂ laser resection of benign laryngeal lesions and early laryngeal cancer (T1–T2). He completed an MD in Otolaryngology, with research focused on dizziness and vestibular disorders, and further enhanced his expertise at the American Institute of Balance, Florida. He established and led a vestibular clinic at York Balance Centre, managing approximately 800 patients annually.

He is a member of the British Laryngological Society and an active contributor to the Voice Service Team in North Yorkshire. Dr. Assem has been actively involved in medical education, teaching undergraduate students at Hull and York Medical School and supervising foundation year doctors. In 2018, he was appointed Governor Lead of the Head and Neck Department, overseeing quality and safety across multiple subspecialties. He has published extensively, presented at national and international conferences, and previously ran private practices at The Nuffield Hospital (York) and The Duchy Hospital (Harrogate) before relocating to the UAE.
