Dr. Andrea Kaelin Agten

Dr. Andrea Kaelin Agten is a Consultant in Maternal–Fetal Medicine at Corniche Hospital, Abu Dhabi, with extensive experience across major teaching hospitals and district general hospitals. She previously worked as a subspecialist consultant in Fetal and Maternal Medicine at Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where she played a key role in establishing the regional placenta accreta service. Her research expertise is centered on caesarean scar pregnancy, and she founded the International Caesarean Scar Pregnancy Registry, serving as its principal investigator. She has presented registry findings at international forums, including the Scan.Academy webinar in 2021. Dr. Agten is a member of the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group and the first author of a landmark Cochrane Review on early pregnancy ultrasound, which informed the 2021 World Health Organization ultrasound screening recommendations. In addition, her academic background includes cardiology research, where she designed ECG education studies and developed innovative digital learning tools for medical training.
